Looking for directions to The Cedars? As Dunoon is actually on the mainland, getting here is possible by road as well as by sea. Either route will give you the chance to take in some beautiful Scottish scenery along the way!
Dunoon lies near the southern end of the A815 road. At its northernmost point, near Cairndow, this road joins the A83 and provides access to the town by road from Loch Lomond, Glasgow, Campbeltown, Oban and Inveraray.
Public transport within Dunoon and the surrounding area is provided by West Coast Motors & McGill’s Bus Services.
McGill’s Bus Services operate service 907, a frequent coach service from Dunoon to Buchanan Street Bus Station in Glasgow. The service travels aboard the Western Ferries crossing and operates via Greenock.
There are two ferry operators that provide a regular service from Gourock to Dunoon.
Western Ferries carries motor vehicles as well as foot passengers. They travel between McInroy’s Point and Hunters Quay. Discounted tickets are available if booked online in advance. These can also be purchased from various outlets – please contact us for further information.
Argyll Ferries runs a passenger only service from Gourock Pier to Dunoon breakwater. At Gourock Pier there is a regular train service, run by Scotrail providing access to Glasgow and the national rail network via the Inverclyde Line.

Parking close to The Cedars is free, and available outside the front of the guest house on Alexandra Parade, or alternatively at the side of the house on Nile Street. Please park considerately with others in mind.
